STOPADOL COLD MAX FOR COMMON COLD & COUGH 20 FILM-COATED TABLETS

Stopadol Cold Max is a multi-component cold and flu preparation with analgesic/ antipyretic, antihistaminic, antitussive and nasal decongestant effects.

Mechanism of Action

• Paracetamol: Inhibits central prostaglandin synthesis → reduces fever and pain
• Chlorpheniramine: Blocks H1 histamine receptors → reduces allergic symptoms (runny nose, sneezing)
• Dextromethorphan: Acts on the cough center in the medulla → suppresses dry cough
• Phenylephrine: Stimulates α1-adrenergic receptors → causes vasoconstriction → relieves nasal congestion

Indicated for symptomatic relief of:

• Fever and headache
• Dry cough
• Nasal congestion
• Rhinorrhea (runny nose)
• Sneezing associated with upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., common cold, influenza)

Ingredients:

Each tablet contains:

• Paracetamol – 650 mg
• Chlorpheniramine maleate – 4 mg
• Dextromethorphan hydrobromide – 20 mg
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride – 10 mg

Safety Profile & Side Effects

Possible adverse effects include:

• Sedation or drowsiness (from antihistamine)
• Dry mouth, blurred vision
• Mild gastrointestinal discomfort
• Increased blood pressure or palpitations (due to phenylephrine)
• CNS effects such as dizziness

Precautions

Use with caution in patients with:

• Hypertension or cardiovascular disease
• Liver impairment (due to paracetamol content)
• Glaucoma or prostatic hypertrophy

Avoid:

• Concurrent use with other paracetamol-containing medications
• Use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them

• Keep out of reach of children
