MERIONAL 75 IU ( MENOTROPINS as HUMAN MENOPAUSAL GONADOTROPINS ) 1 VIAL+ 1 DILUENT

MERIONAL 75 IU (MENOTROPIN) – MEDICAL DESCRIPTION

Prescription Fertility Medication

Merional 75 IU is a hormonal fertility medication containing Menotropin (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin – hMG), a combination of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activities. It is used in fertility treatment to stimulate ovarian follicular development in women and support sperm production in selected men with hormonal deficiencies.

By providing gonadotropin activity, Merional helps regulate reproductive functions and supports medically supervised fertility treatments.

Indications & Uses

  • Female Infertility: Stimulates ovarian follicular development in women with ovulatory disorders who require gonadotropin therapy.
  • Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): Supports controlled ovarian stimulation during IVF and other assisted reproduction procedures to promote the development of multiple follicles.
  • Follicular Maturation: Promotes ovarian follicle growth and development as part of fertility treatment protocols.
  • Male Infertility: May be used in selected men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, usually in combination with hCG, to stimulate spermatogenesis.

Note: The 75 IU menotropin provides 75 IU of FSH activity and 75 IU of LH activity; these are not separate 75 IU doses of menotropin.

Mechanism of Action

Merional works through the combined actions of FSH and LH:

  • FSH: Stimulates the growth and development of ovarian follicles and supports estrogen production.
  • LH: Supports ovarian steroid hormone production and contributes to follicular maturation and reproductive function.
  • In men: Gonadotropin activity, together with appropriate hCG therapy, stimulates testicular function and supports sperm production in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Dosage & Administration

  • The dosage and treatment duration are individualized according to the patient's diagnosis, hormonal profile, and response to treatment.
  • Administered by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, according to the prescribed product instructions.
  • The powder must be reconstituted using the supplied diluent before administration.
  • Treatment requires specialist supervision and regular monitoring, including ultrasound assessment of ovarian response and hormonal measurements when indicated.

Important: The dose must never be adjusted without the treating fertility specialist's instructions.
