MELLITOFIX MET 10 MG ( EMPAGLIFLOZIN ) 30 FILM-COATED TABLETS

MELLITOFIX

Empagliflozin 10 mg / 25 mg — 30 Film-Coated Tablets

Product Description

Mellitofix is an oral antidiabetic medicine containing empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor used to improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing the amount of glucose excreted in the urine and helping lower blood glucose levels.

Empagliflozin may also provide cardiovascular and kidney benefits in eligible patients with heart failure, chronic kidney disease, or type 2 diabetes with established cardiovascular disease, according to the applicable approved indications.

Available Strengths

  • Mellitofix 10 mg: Empagliflozin 10 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Mellitofix 25 mg: Empagliflozin 25 mg per film-coated tablet.

Pack size: 30 film-coated tablets per pack.

Indications and Benefits

  • Type 2 diabetes management: Helps improve blood glucose control alongside diet and physical activity.
  • Cardiovascular protection: May reduce cardiovascular death in eligible patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.
  • Heart failure management: May reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in eligible patients with heart failure.
  • Kidney protection: May reduce the risk of worsening kidney function and related complications in eligible patients with chronic kidney disease.
  • Additional metabolic effects: May contribute to modest weight reduction and lower blood pressure in some patients.

These benefits depend on the patient's condition and the applicable product indication.

Recommended Use and Dosage

  • Take exactly as prescribed by the treating physician.
  • The usual adult starting dose is 10 mg once daily in the morning, with or without food.
  • The dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily for additional blood glucose control when appropriate and tolerated.
  • Kidney function and hydration status should be assessed before starting treatment and monitored as clinically indicated.
  • Do not change the dose or discontinue treatment without medical advice.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Dehydration: May increase urination and cause dehydration, dizziness, or low blood pressure.
  • Genital infections: Increases the risk of genital fungal infections; seek medical advice if symptoms develop.
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis: Urgently seek medical care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, or difficulty breathing, even if blood glucose is not very high.
  • Kidney function: Medical assessment is necessary before treatment, particularly in patients with impaired renal function.
  • Hypoglycemia: Risk may increase when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.
  • Surgery and prolonged fasting: Temporary interruption may be necessary; inform your healthcare team before planned procedures.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult a physician regarding suitability.
  • Type 1 diabetes: Not recommended for routine blood glucose management because of the increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Storage

Store according to the manufacturer's instructions, away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
