CLARITINE CHEWABLES 10 MG ( LORATADINE ) NON-DROWSY COOL MINT FLAVOR 30 CHEWABLE TABLETS

Loratadine is a second-generation, long-acting antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic conditions. Each chewable tablet in the image contains 10 mg of micronized loratadine, formulated to enhance dissolution and absorption.

Loratadine works by selectively blocking peripheral histamine H1 receptors, thereby inhibiting the effects of histamine released during allergic reactions. Unlike first-generation antihistamines, it has minimal penetration into the central nervous system, resulting in reduced sedation.

Indications

Loratadine is commonly used for the symptomatic treatment of:

  • Allergic Rhinitis (seasonal and perennial)
  • Urticaria and other allergic skin conditions
  • Symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes

Pharmacological Properties

  • Onset of action: within 1–3 hours
  • Duration: approximately 24 hours (once-daily dosing)
  • Metabolism: extensively metabolized in the liver (mainly via CYP3A4 and CYP2D6) to an active metabolite (desloratadine)

Dosage (General Guidance)

  • Adults and children ≥6 years: typically 10 mg once daily
  • Not recommended for children under 6 years in this formulation (as stated on the package)

Warnings & Precautions

  • Patients with Phenylketonuria should use caution, as the product contains aspartame, a source of phenylalanine
  • Use cautiously in severe liver impairment (dose adjustment may be required)
  • Generally non-sedating, but mild drowsiness may occur in some individuals

Storage

  • Store below 30°C in a dry place
  • Keep out of reach of children
