MELOCAM (MELOXICAM)

Anti-inflammatory and Analgesic Medicine — Injection and Suppositories

Melocam contains meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with certain musculoskeletal and inflammatory joint conditions. It reduces the production of prostaglandins, which contribute to pain, swelling, and inflammation.

1. MELOCAM 15 MG/2 ML — 3 AMPOULES

Active ingredient: Meloxicam 15 mg/ 2ml per ampoule.

Dosage form: Solution for intramuscular injection.

Indications and Potential Benefits

  • Acute inflammatory joint symptoms: Helps relieve pain and inflammation during acute exacerbations of rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis: May help reduce pain and stiffness during acute inflammatory episodes.
  • Short-term pain relief: Provides an alternative route when oral administration is not possible or appropriate.

The exact approved indications depend on the specific product's official leaflet.

  • The injection must be administered by a qualified healthcare professional.
  • The usual adult dose is 15 mg once daily; the dose may be reduced to 7.5 mg in patients at increased risk of adverse effects.
  • Injectable treatment is generally limited to one initial injection. In exceptional circumstances, when oral treatment is unsuitable, it may be continued for no more than 2–3 days, according to the applicable product information.

  • Drug interactions: Consult a healthcare professional before combining with anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, corticosteroids, other NSAIDs, diuretics, or certain blood pressure medicines.
