Medical Description

Megafen Tablets contain a combination of ibuprofen (200 mg) and paracetamol (acetaminophen, 325 mg). This dual-action formulation provides analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory effects through complementary mechanisms of action. Ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, while paracetamol acts centrally to relieve pain and reduce fever. Combination therapy may provide greater pain relief than either ingredient used alone.

Indications

Megafen Tablets may be used for the temporary relief of:

• Headache and migraine
• Toothache and dental pain
• Muscular aches and back pain
• Joint pain and minor arthritis pain
• Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)
• Cold and flu symptoms associated with fever and pain
• Minor sprains and strains
• Mild to moderate acute pain and fever

Dosage and Administration

Adults and children ≥12 years:

• 1–2 tablets every 6–8 hours as needed, or as directed by a physician.
• Do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours, unless prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Duration of Use

• Do not use for more than 3 days for fever or 5 days for pain without medical advice.

Directions for Use

• Swallow tablets with water.
• May be taken with food or milk to minimize stomach irritation.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.

Precautions and Warnings

Use with caution in patients with:

• History of stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
• Kidney impairment
• Liver disease
• Heart disease or hypertension
• Asthma sensitive to NSAIDs
• Dehydration or fluid retention

Do NOT use:

• With other products containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen/NSAIDs.
• In patients with known hypersensitivity to either component.
• Immediately before or after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

• Avoid use during the third trimester of pregnancy.
• Consult a healthcare professional before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
