MELOCAM 15 MG ( MELOXICAM ) 30 TABLETS

MELOCAM (MELOXICAM)

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) — Oral Tablets

Product Description

Melocam contains meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in the production of prostaglandins, substances that contribute to pain and inflammation.

Meloxicam is used to relieve pain, swelling, tenderness, and stiffness associated with inflammatory joint conditions, particularly osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It helps improve comfort and mobility but does not cure the underlying joint disease.

Indications and Potential Benefits

  • Osteoarthritis: Helps relieve joint pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Helps reduce inflammatory joint symptoms and improve physical comfort.
  • Pain and inflammation relief: Reduces inflammatory processes that contribute to musculoskeletal discomfort.
  • Improved mobility: Relief of pain and stiffness may help support daily activities and movement.

Meloxicam controls symptoms but does not stop or reverse the underlying cause of arthritis.

Recommended Use and Dosage

  • Take exactly as prescribed by your physician.
  • The usual adult dose is 7.5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 15 mg once daily when clinically appropriate.
  • The maximum recommended oral dose for adults is 15 mg per day.
  • Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.
  • Tablets may generally be taken with or without food. Follow the instructions on the specific product leaflet.

Do not combine Melocam with other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, or naproxen, unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Gastrointestinal risks: May cause stomach irritation, ulcers, bleeding, or, rarely, perforation. Seek urgent medical care for black stools or vomiting blood.
  • Cardiovascular risks: NSAIDs may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, particularly with prolonged use or in patients with cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Kidney function: Use with caution in patients with kidney disease, dehydration, or heart failure.
  • Blood pressure and fluid retention: May increase blood pressure or cause swelling and fluid retention.
  • Allergic reactions: Avoid if you have had an allergic reaction, asthma, or hives triggered by meloxicam, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.
  • Drug interactions: Consult a healthcare professional before use with anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicines, corticosteroids, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, lithium, or methotrexate.
  • Pregnancy: Avoid unless specifically advised by a physician. NSAIDs should generally be avoided from 20 weeks of pregnancy onward unless considered necessary by a healthcare professional, and they are contraindicated around 30 weeks and later under U.S. prescribing guidance.
  • Older adults: May have a higher risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and kidney-related adverse effects.

Storage

Store according to the manufacturer's instructions, away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
