Composition:

  • Dexamethasone 1 mg/mL: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation.
  • Tobramycin 3 mg/mL: An aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against a broad range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria.

Indications (Uses):

Used to treat inflammatory eye conditions with a risk or presence of bacterial infection, such as:

  • Bacterial conjunctivitis
  • Keratitis
  • Post-operative inflammation
  • Iritis or uveitis
  • Corneal injury or surgery
  • Blepharitis with infection

Mechanism of Action:

  • Dexamethasone suppresses the immune response, reducing redness, swelling, and irritation.
  • Tobramycin binds to bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting protein synthesis and killing bacteria.

How to Use:

  • Typically: 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours
  • In severe cases: Dosing may be more frequent initially (e.g., every 1–2 hours), then reduced
  • Always follow a doctor's instructions.

Warnings & Precautions:

  • Do not use in viral (e.g., herpes simplex), fungal, or untreated eye infections.
  • Use with caution in glaucoma or eye ulceration.
  • Prolonged use can lead to increased intraocular pressure, cataract formation, or secondary infections.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone, Tobramycin, or other aminoglycosides
  • Fungal or viral eye infections (e.g., herpes simplex keratitis)
  • Untreated purulent eye infections

Side Effects:

  • Eye irritation, stinging or redness
  • Blurred vision after application
  • Elevated intraocular pressure (with long-term use)
  • Secondary eye infections
  • Rare: allergic reactions

Storage:
