Medical Description

LACTOPRESS® is an iron-containing dietary supplement formulated with iron, lactoferrin, and vitamin C to provide nutritional support for maintaining adequate iron status and normal red-blood-cell production.

Iron is an essential mineral required for the production of hemoglobin, the protein responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body. Adequate iron intake is therefore important for normal oxygen transport, energy metabolism, cognitive function, and overall physiological performance. Inadequate iron intake or increased iron requirements can contribute to iron deficiency and, when sufficiently severe, iron-deficiency anemia, which may be associated with tiredness, weakness and reduced physical capacity.

LACTOPRESS provides iron in the form of ferrous gluconate, one of the commonly used forms of supplemental iron. The formulation also contains lactoferrin, an iron-binding glycoprotein that has been investigated for its potential role in supporting iron metabolism and hematological parameters. Clinical studies and systematic reviews have reported improvements in markers such as hemoglobin, serum iron and ferritin with lactoferrin supplementation in some populations; however, the evidence is heterogeneous, and lactoferrin should be regarded as a supportive nutritional component rather than a substitute for medical evaluation or treatment of diagnosed anemia.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) complements the formulation because it plays an important role in normal antioxidant and connective-tissue functions and enhances absorption of non-heme iron. This makes vitamin C a useful nutritional component in iron-containing formulations.

Key Nutritional Benefits

Supports Normal Hemoglobin Formation

Iron contributes to the formation of hemoglobin, helping support the body's normal oxygen-transport capacity. Adequate iron is particularly important when dietary intake does not meet physiological requirements.

Helps Support Normal Energy Metabolism

Iron is involved in normal energy metabolism and oxygen utilization. Maintaining adequate iron status can help support normal physical performance and reduce the functional consequences associated with iron deficiency.

Supports Healthy Iron Status

The combination of iron with lactoferrin provides complementary nutritional support for iron metabolism. Research has investigated lactoferrin as an adjunct to iron supplementation, with some studies reporting improvements in iron stores and hematological parameters.

Vitamin C for Iron Absorption

Vitamin C enhances the absorption of non-heme iron and therefore complements an iron-containing nutritional supplement.

Antioxidant & Immune Support

Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant and contributes to normal immune-system function and collagen synthesis.

Who May Benefit?

LACTOPRESS may provide nutritional support for adults who have increased nutritional requirements for iron or whose dietary intake may be insufficient, including individuals with increased iron needs.

Women of reproductive age are among the groups at increased risk of iron deficiency because of menstrual blood loss, while pregnancy also increases iron requirements. WHO recognizes iron supplementation as an important public-health strategy for reducing iron deficiency and anemia in appropriate populations.

Important: Symptoms such as persistent fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, or pallor should not automatically be attributed to iron deficiency. Anemia has multiple possible causes, and appropriate laboratory assessment may be necessary.

Suggested Use

Adults: Take 1 capsule daily or as directed by a healthcare professional, unless the product's official manufacturer instructions specify a different dosage.

Swallow the capsule whole with water. Iron absorption can be affected by calcium, antacids and certain medications; therefore, appropriate separation may be necessary.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Important Warnings & Precautions

  • Keep iron-containing supplements out of the reach of children. Accidental ingestion of iron products can cause serious or potentially fatal poisoning in young children.
  • Iron supplements may cause nausea, abdominal discomfort, constipation or diarrhea, particularly at higher doses. Dark stools can also occur with oral iron.
  • Do not use iron supplementation unnecessarily or at higher doses without professional advice, particularly if iron deficiency has not been established.
  • Individuals with a history of iron overload disorders, certain blood disorders, gastrointestinal disease, or other medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before use.
  • Iron can interact with some medicines, including levothyroxine, levodopa and certain antibiotics. Calcium supplements and some antacids can also interfere with iron absorption.
  • If pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or being treated for anemia, consult a physician or pharmacist before use.
  • This supplement should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet or prescribed medical treatment.

Patient Disclaimer

LACTOPRESS® is a dietary supplement intended to provide nutritional support for iron status and normal physiological functions. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease unless specifically approved for such use by the relevant regulatory authority. Iron deficiency and anemia can have several different causes and may require medical assessment, including appropriate blood tests. Patients should consult a physician or pharmacist before starting iron supplementation, particularly during pregnancy, in children, in individuals with chronic medical conditions, or when taking other medicines. Do not exceed the recommended dose, and keep this product out of the reach of children.
