AMBEZIM - G ( TRYPSIN 5 MG + CHYMOTRYPSIN 5 MG ) 30 ENTERIC COATED TABLETS

AMBEZIM-G — Trypsin 5 mg + Chymotrypsin 5 mg

Anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous enzyme preparation | 30 film-coated tablets

Therapeutic Category: Proteolytic enzyme combination; adjunctive treatment for localized inflammation and swelling.

Active Ingredients (per tablet):

  • Trypsin: 5 mg
  • Chymotrypsin: 5 mg

Dosage Form: Film-coated tablets Pack Size: 30 tablets

Medical Description

Ambezim-G contains trypsin and chymotrypsin, two proteolytic enzymes used as adjunctive therapy to help reduce localized swelling (edema) and inflammatory exudate associated with selected injuries, surgical procedures, and inflammatory conditions. The manufacturer lists its therapeutic indications as the reduction and resorption of edema and exudate, and adjunctive treatment of localized inflammatory conditions.

It may be prescribed alongside appropriate treatment to help manage swelling associated with tissue injury or recovery after certain procedures. It is not a substitute for treating the underlying cause of inflammation, infection, or injury.

Indications and Potential Benefits

  • Reduction of edema: May help reduce localized tissue swelling.
  • Resolution of inflammatory exudate: May support the resolution of fluid accumulation associated with inflammation.
  • Post-traumatic swelling: May be used as an adjunct after selected injuries, when prescribed.
  • Postoperative recovery: May be considered after certain surgical or dental procedures to help manage swelling.
  • Localized inflammatory conditions: May be used as supportive treatment when considered appropriate by a healthcare professional.

Clinical evidence for oral trypsin–chymotrypsin combinations includes studies of postoperative pain and swelling, but the strength and consistency of evidence vary by condition. Benefits should not be assumed for every inflammatory disorder.

Mechanism of Action

Trypsin and chymotrypsin are proteolytic enzymes that break down proteins into smaller peptides.

  • Trypsin: Cleaves proteins at specific peptide bonds.
  • Chymotrypsin: Breaks down proteins at different specific peptide bonds.
  • Proposed anti-inflammatory action: Oral enzyme combinations have been investigated for their potential to influence inflammatory processes and help resolve tissue swelling. However, the precise mechanism and the extent of clinical benefit are not fully established.

Dosage and Administration

  • Take Ambezim-G according to the product leaflet and the prescribing healthcare professional’s instructions.
  • Follow the prescribed timing in relation to meals; do not assume that dosing instructions for other enzyme products apply to this brand.
  • Swallow the tablet as directed by the leaflet.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose or extend treatment without medical advice.

Possible Side Effects

Potential adverse effects may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort.
  • Diarrhea or other gastrointestinal disturbances.
  • Allergic reactions, including rash, itching, or swelling.
  • Rarely, serious hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical attention if you develop difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Warnings and Precautions

Consult a healthcare professional before using Ambezim-G if you:

  • Have a history of stomach or intestinal ulcers, gastrointestinal lesions, or bleeding disorders.
  • Take anticoagulants (blood thinners), antiplatelet medicines, or anti-inflammatory medicines.
  • Have a bleeding tendency or are preparing for surgery.
