Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is characterized by fairly thick, oily dandruff and red plaques associated with intense itching. These clinical signs in the scalp may also be observed on the face and/or torso. In this case, the most bothersome symptom is the redness associated with the small scales. Although not a severe condition, its chronic development and high visibility can negatively impact quality of life.
