Why it's used

Amosar Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure. It is a prescription medicine. This medicine works by preventing the activity of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels. This medicine helps by making blood flowing smoothly and the heart to pump more effectively. Amosar is also used to reduce the risk of stroke in high blood pressure patients with an enlarged heart. It is also used to treat kidney damage due to diabetes.
Amosar Tablet may also be taken in combination with other medicines to treat certain conditions as recommended by the doctor. Amosar Tablet is used together with Hydrochlorothiazide to reduce the risk of stroke in high blood pressure patients with an enlarged heart.
Angiotensin 2 Receptor Blocker
Amosar belongs to a class of medicines called Angiotensin 2 Receptor Blocker. Angiotensin II receptor blockers are used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. These medicines act by relaxing the blood vessels and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood.
 

How to use

Follow directions on the product label, information guide, and provided by your doctor before using Amosar. Consume this medicine as per your doctor's instructions.
You should track your blood pressure levels regularly. Discuss your results with the doctor, especially if your blood pressure measurements are too high or too low. Your treatment may need changes.
Amosar is consumed with or without food. If a child is unable to swallow a tablet, a liquid form (suspension) is given after consultation with the pharmacist or doctor.

Typical Dosage

The typical adult dose of Amosar is 50 mg once daily as usual starting dose which can be increased to 100 mg according to the patient's blood pressure response to the medicine. The typical dose for children is 0.7 mg/kg or 0.3 mg/lb once daily (up to 50 mg). The maximum dose for adults of Amosar is 100 mg once daily per day. Amosar is typically used at the same time every day. There are no known habit-forming tendencies with this medicine.
Amosar is to be used for longer periods of time. Use of Amosar may be prescribed for the long-term to control the high blood pressure conditions. You should continue to use this medicine as directed by the doctor even if you feel well.
If using the liquid form of this medicine, measure the dose using the provided measuring cup, spoon, or dropper. Before pouring the medicine into the measuring device, you should check the measurement markings carefully. Then, pour the dose amount into the device. After use, clean and store the measuring device in a safe place for your next use. You should not use a tablespoon or teaspoon as the dose measuring devices since it can result in an incorrect dose. If indicated on the product package, shake the medicine before use.

Talk to your doctor if swelling of the face, swelling of the lips, swelling of the throat, swelling of the tongue, low blood pressure, weight gain, swelling in feet, swelling in the hands, and swelling in the ankles. If you have issues with the health of your liver, The starting dose of 25 mg once daily is recommended in patients with abnormal liver function. Consult with your doctor before stopping the use of Amosar Tablet.

Use in Children

Storage

Store Amosar Tablet at 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F), away from moisture, and away from light. Keep this medicine away from children and pets.
Medicines may be given for uses other than those listed in the medicine guide. Do not use Amosar Tablet for symptoms for which it was not prescribed. Do not give Amosar Tablet to others who may have similar symptoms as you. Self-medication can cause harm.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Do not take a second dose to make up for the dose that you may have missed. Just continue with the next dose.

Overdose

What to do if you overdose on Amosar?
If you have taken more than the recommended dose of Amosar and symptoms like low blood pressure occur, treat the symptoms and provide supportive measures. The toxic effect can be reduced by taking activated charcoal. Activated Charcoal is a form of carbon that has small, low-volume pores. These pores help trap chemicals as in the case of poisoning.

Precautions while using Amosar

Before you use Amosar, tell your doctor of your medical and health history including the following:

The use of Amosar Tablet may change blood urea nitrogen. A minor increase in blood urea nitrogen level has been seen in patients while using this medicine.
The use of this medicine may change electrolyte level.
The use of Amosar Tablet may change blood pressure.
The use of this medicine may change red blood cells count (hemoglobin) and the ratio of the volume of red blood cells to the total volume of blood (hematocrit). A small decrease in hemoglobin and hematocrit value has been reported in patients while using this medicine.
The use of this medicine may change blood creatinine levels. A minor increase in blood creatinine level has been reported in patients while using this medicine.

Use when Pregnant

Amosar is not safe for use in women who are pregnant. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you should discuss the impact on the fetus with your doctor before you start using this medicine. The use of this medicine in pregnant women can cause injury to the developing fetus and is possibly fatal to the unborn baby.

If Breastfeeding

Amosar Tablet is not safe for use in women who are breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor if you should either discontinue breastfeeding, or stop using this medicine during this period. It is unknown that if this medicine may pass into breast milk or not.

If trying to Conceive

Consult with your doctor on the use of Amosar, if you are trying to conceive.

Dizziness

Amosar can make you feel sleepy. Be careful, especially while driving, while using heavy machinery, or when doing any activity that needs you to be completely alert. The consumption of alcohol with Amosar can worsen the sleepiness.

Increase in Risk

This medicine may increase your sensitivity to sunlight and make you prone to sunburn. If this happens, limit your time outdoors to prevent sunburn. Use a sunscreen and cover your skin.
